Begin with the hieroglyphs, the Sacred Symbols, the ‘Medu Neter.’ They are the oldest form of writing known to man and they can still speak to us. The Symbols are beautiful, particularly many of the older ones found on the monuments and artifacts of Egypt.

Magic is defined in the dictionary as ‘the pretended art of controlling the supernatural, sorcery; legerdemain; charm, enchantment.’

What kind of evidence is there that true magic existed in Egypt?

First, just the fact that Eternal Egypt endured for over 3000 years with basically the same setup.

In the tale of the Exodus in the Bible, the magicians of Egypt match almost every feat of Moses.

Sir Flinders Petrie translated some of the tales of Old Egypt with stories of Ancient Magic, and magicians parting waters in the time of Khufu, builder of the Great Pyramid.

I recommend starting with translations and books on the ancient legends and practice of Magic in Ancient Egypt by Sir Flinders Petrie and Wallis Budge.

You’ll find tales of the Power of Names and of Words. The AE stressed the power of knowing the True Name of a ‘god or goddess’, a power of some kind, not one arbitrarily assigned to it, for whatever reason.

One of the strange beliefs of the AE was the power of the inscribed or written Sacred Symbols to animate, come to life and act, for good or evil depending on the character of the symbol. This belief was not confined to the just the symbols, which are symbols representing ideas, sounds and actual things, but to images of people and animals, particularly images of the king and of the gods.

They even had instructions for scribes and artists to leave certain inimical images and symbols incomplete to prevent them from animating.

They believed these figures or symbols could animate just like in the animated movie “Prince of Egypt” about Moses, or in the intros to History of Egypt documentaries on public TV, history channels, or others, where you see the hieroglyph of a snake come to life and slither off the screen.
